John Grunsfeld and Rick Linnehan concluded a 7 hour 1 minute
spacewalk at 7:38 a.m. central time today, successfully installing
the first of two new-generation solar arrays on the Hubble
Space Telescope.
Preliminary aliveness tests of the new solar array were successfully
conducted about 7:20 a.m today. The second solar array will
be installed in a spacewalk by Jim Newman and Mike Massimino,
slated to begin about 12:30 a.m. central time Tuesday.
The crew will spend the rest of the day cleaning up after
today's spacewalk and will conduct a review of procedures
for tomorrow's spacewalk before beginning a scheduled nine-hour
sleep shift just before noon.

successfully installed a new, smaller and more efficient solar
array on the Hubble Space Telescope early Monday. A second
replacement solar array is to be installed during a Tuesday

Spacewalkers John Grunsfeld and Rick Linnehan removed the
starboard solar array of the Hubble Space Telescope early
Monday. They are to replace it later in the spacewalk with
a new, smaller and more efficient solar array.
